Gracie

December 2007 update from Donna:

"This dog is such a character you just would not believe her! She has such a personality... She has so many of my neighbors and different mail carriers "trained" to give her treats that I had to cut her food back so she wouldn't get fat. We have one mail carrier that fell so in love with her that even though she was transfered to the next town ( about 1 mile) she comes by the house on her way to work in the A.M. and leaves a biscuit in the corner of the porch. But that's not the least of it, she leaves a snack baggie with a note and biscuits when she's going on vacation or is off for a few days.....doesn't that just beat all????

Another neighbor can be difficult sometimes and for nearly all three years of Gracie's life, she wouldn't talk to her or pet her. NOW all of a sudden, Gracie is her best friend and she buys special bones for her and calls her up to her door to get them and gives her lots of loving rubs and pats....who would figure??? Gracie is magic! The little Laotian boys across the street ring my bell and want to know if they can play with her. But Philly, the 4 yr old who is no bigger than a minute and stands nose to nose with Gracie, asks if I will open the door so she can lick his face. Then he giggles like mad and asks, "why she lick me?". I tell him it's because she loves him and he giggles and says,"yeh, she love me!"

. .. She is so mischievous and devious it isn't even funny sometimes. The other day Danny was trying to sleep (on the couch, he still works graveyard) and I was in the kitchen. He told me that she woke him up, which she knows she's not supposed to do, but he said that every time she heard me move around in the kitchen she would freeze and look to see if I was going to come in and catch her. When I didn't show up, she would start pestering him again. What a cheeky little bugger she is!!!!

Needless to say she is well loved and lives a happy, healthy life full of love from, not just us, but everyone she comes into contact with."
