What We Do...

Short answer: we love dogs.
Longer answer: Shepherd's Way is not a "kennel". Our dogs are part of the family and live with us in our home. We raise English Shepherds, including litters on occasion, to enjoy as companions and partners in work.

Breeding Program

  • Only sound, healthy dogs will be used for breeding.
  • PennHIP and CERF evaluations used for screening.
  • Pedigree analyses used to optimize the health of puppies and to help conserve the genetic diversity of the breed.
  • Temperament and instinct testing used to objectively evaluate quality of dogs prior to breeding.
  • Working ability and character assessed through participation in obedience, agility, herding, and the many activities of a busy family.

Puppies

  • Raised in the house, socialized with children and pets.
  • Routine preventive care and vet exam prior to sale.
  • Expert evaluation of temperament and structure used to help guide placement decisions.
  • All final placement decisions made by breeder.
  • Questionnaire and interview used to screen buyers.
  • Puppies sold under contract, with health guarantee.
